HOW WE MET
Jeroen and I met almost 14 years ago in our hometown
‘s Hertogenbosch. He worked at a fashion store that my sister and I would vist regularly. I never really noticed him until one day as my eye found his and decided not to let go. After some obvious staring, it didn’t take long for both of us to find out who we were and where to find each other. That summer I worked (as always) at a big theater festival in town and that week his parents where out of town and he had their big city house all to himself. So he offered to park my bike in his yard so it wouldn’t get stolen. The rest is kinda history. We fell head over heels in love, had an amazing summer and just never let go after that.
"We are so much more for one another then just boyfriend and girlfriend. Becoming each other’s spouse has made us feel more complete as a duo and as a family of four."
OUR ENGAGEMENT STORY
It was New Year’s day and we had the kids picked up that morning by my parents. We had a whole day and night of fun a head of us. When we walked out of the ballet theater later that afternoon Jeroen suggested to have a little stroll in search of coffee. I was still babbling about the magical ballet and also was a little annoyed by his plan to walk around as I wanted to take our bikes cause this seemed more practical.
At some point he sat me down on a bench overlooking the Amstel river and started talking. I was still arguing with him in my head and so at first I didn’t realise at all what he was saying. Then I told myself to tune in cause it seemed like he was telling me something important. Not long after that there was some hand movement in his pocket, a little black box and then it hit me: “Oh, my God is this ….?!” And so it was as he dropped down on one knee and opened the box and asked the million dollar question. Of course I said yes and fifteen months later we got married.
MARRIAGE TO US MEANS
Jeroen and I are not only lovers and best friends we are also parents. The kids carry his last name and I felt a little left out and besides that calling him my boyfriend didn’t feel adequate anymore. We are so much more for one another then just boyfriend and girlfriend. Becoming each others' spouse has made us feel more complete as a duo and as a family of four.
"Just love and confetti everywhere. Thinking about it brings a smile to my face!"
A MEMORABLE MOMENT OF THE DAY
Our favourite moment was when we arrived at the second location by boot. We went to City Hall with just a small group of direct family and friends. The rest of our day guests where meeting us at the second location. When we came around the corner and everyone was standing there all dressed up with happy faces all around I teared up immediately. Just love and confetti everywhere. Thinking about it brings a smile to my face!
"Create an environment where it is possible for you both to enjoy and soak up all the love that is present at this special day, weekend or week even!"
ONE THING WE WISH WE KNEW BEFORE WE STARTED OUR WEDDING PLANS
Hmm, that’s a tough call. Because I regularly do production/styling for all sorts of events we had a head start on what to expect. In preparation everything actually went pretty smoothly. On the day itself we couldn’t have make it work without Lotte though.
IF I COULD GIVE OTHER BRIDES TO BE ONE PIECE OF ADVICECreate an environment where it is possible for you both to enjoy and soak up all the love that is present at this special day, weekend or week even! Oh, and definitely take one or two weeks of beforehand and at least two or three days afterwards.

GETTING MARRIED WITH THE HELP OF LOTTE MEANS TO US
Lotte made it possible to freely enjoy our day and have nothing to do with arranging things for our guests or communicating with our suppliers. She’s there when you need her, but will never take center stage. Besides that she looks impeccable and is a joy to work with! Thanks so much lieve Lotte, you made our day easy as summer lovin’.
