And now, for something,
completely different.

The quote on their invites that defines this beautiful Swiss bride & Dutch groom and their wedding perfectly.
From an artichoke in her wedding bouquet, her daughters' favourite book as a ring box, an actual train moving on the late night snack table, to an 'everything has to be odd theatre' wedding cake.
Also, she found her vintage Valentino gown she had dreamed of ever since she was a child. If you still don't believe in meant to be, you might do now.

HOW WE MET
We have met on Tinder while Coen was in Milan for work. After chatting for a month we decided to rent a house in Venice for a week, and that was our first date. We have been together ever since.

"I will still love you tomorrow"

OUR ENGAGEMENT STORY
We wanted to live together in Amsterdam but moving Janaina's daughter out of Switzerland required a complex procedure. Our lawyer said we did not stand a chance of winning the case without being married. So Coen bought a ring at the airport and flew to Switzerland. He later made a proper proposal with a proper ring.

MARRIAGE TO US MEANS
"I will still love you tomorrow"

"Don't be afraid to be yourself and don't go out of your way to please anyone else."

A MEMORABLE MOMENT OF THE DAY
Where should we start!? The whole day was incredible, but arriving at the church of Ons Lieve Heer op solder at dusk to the sound of cellos and seeing all the loving faces of the people who had travelled there to be part of our special day was truly overwhelming. The fully improvised first dance turning out without any deaths or severe injuries was also a very nice surprise.

ONE THING WE WISH WE KNEW BEFORE WE STARTED OUR WEDDING PLANS
We wish we had figured out our permanent guest list at the beginning. All the additions and modifications we made through months turned out to be confusing.

"Groom to groom advice: tell your wife-to-be your salary is about 40% lower than it actually is."

IF I COULD GIVE OTHER BRIDES TO BE ONE PIECE OF ADVICE
Don't be afraid to be yourself and don't go out of your way to please anyone else. Don't sacrifice what feels right to you to obey traditions or expectations of people who are not part of your relationship.

"Her warm character, personal touch and openness to unconventional ideas made our wedding planning experience way more pleasant and less stressful than we had expected it to be."

GETTING MARRIED WITH THE HELP OF LOTTE MEANS TO US
We found Lotte accidentally while googling the possibility of having our wedding reception on the street. The search led us to an interview with this young and enthusiastic wedding planner who dreamed of organising such a party. Although we eventually dropped the idea of the wedding in the street, Lotte proved to be the perfect person to help us. She was amazing. We had very clear ideas of what we wanted and we have personally found each element of the team that brought our ideas to life, yet coordinating such a team, orchestrating the day itself and managing the (unforeseen) practicalities involved in a wedding are tasks that require experience, competence, communication skills and perseverance. Lotte worked as the point of contact between all parties involved and made sure everything ran smoothly. Her warm character, personal touch and openness to unconventional ideas made our wedding planning experience way more pleasant and less stressful than we had expected it to be. And when the day itself came, her presence through the preparations and the party felt much more like an old friend or a bridesmaid as opposed to a hired professional.
